The weighing junction box is a device that outputs one signal after adjusting the signals of multiple load cells. It is divided into analog junction box and digital junction box. The analog junction box is a device that outputs a voltage signal after connecting the signals of multiple load cells in parallel. The digital junction box is a device that converts the signals of multiple load cells into digital and analog, and outputs digital signals through serial communication.

Weighing junction boxes are widely used in mass measurement. In particular, some large scales need to install multiple load cells to complete the measurement, such as truck scales, platform scales, hopper scales and other scales, etc. need to install 4 or more load cells to complete the measurement work. In order for the host computer instrument to process the weighing signal, it is generally necessary to use a weighing junction box to synthesize multiple load cell signals into one signal. Therefore, the weighing junction box is an indispensable equipment for various weighing instruments.

Principle and application of weighing junction box:

The junction box is the connection part between the load cell of Ningbo Saintbond intelligent floor scale and the display instrument. It plays the role of connecting and transmitting the signals of two important parts of the weighing system. Generally speaking, the junction box of the floor scale is mostly made of metal materials. The side of the box is arranged with a sealing joint for passing through the signal cable. The common junction box is flat and rectangular. The metal material can ensure that it has a certain anti-interference performance and is more durable. The types of different junction boxes have also changed, and the common application types are analog and digital.

Little knowledge about load cell junction box:

Electrical connection housing:

A junction box is an enclosure used to connect multiple load cells together to function as a single scale. Essentially, the junction box houses the wire connections from multiple load cells in order to average their signals and send the value to the weight indicator.

Easier to maintain:

The junction box is the most convenient place to troubleshoot system errors because all load cell connections go together into this box. They also allow easy wire access and provide protection for wiring from the environment and unwanted tampering.

Custom Scale Solutions:

By combining multiple load cells together, junction boxes can quickly integrate weighing into pre-existing structures such as weighbridges, large platforms, hoppers, tanks and silos to create custom scale solutions. These devices are ideal for applications requiring filling by weight, dosing, batching, checkweighing or sorting.

Number of terminals:

A junction box can have multiple terminals (up to 10), depending on how many connections you need to make. When choosing an electrical junction box, make sure there are enough terminals for each pair of wires you want to connect.

Metal or ABS?

Junction box construction plays an important role in its durability and reliability. Most electrical junction boxes are made of plastic or metal. Plastic is lighter and less expensive, but stainless steel is ideal for harsh and washdown environments.

Protection class:

The IP rating describes the degree to which the junction box provides protection against the ingress of foreign objects, dust and moisture. Common IP ratings include IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68 and IP69K.

shockproof:

Junction boxes can be equipped with surge protectors to protect electrical equipment from transient overvoltages often caused by lightning and electric shock.

To trim or not to trim:

Not every load cell has the exact same output, but you need an accurate weight no matter where an item is placed on the scale: that's where trimming comes in. Thanks to the potentiometer, the junction box can eliminate the differences between the batteries and produce the same signal-to-weight ratio.

Dangerous zone:

In hazardous areas, electrical equipment must meet strict safety standards to eliminate sources of ignition. For these areas, special junction boxes with ATEX certification should be selected, which are specially manufactured for explosive atmospheres.

The right junction box for you:

There are many different types of electrical junction boxes, each type is best suited for certain applications, and choosing the perfect junction box will depend on your unique application. If you're not sure which junction box is right for you, work with our experienced customer support team to find the best solution for your application.
